Help Shape Knoxville’s Bike-Friendly Future

Posted: 07/28/2025
Bike Facilities Update open house
Whether you ride for fun, fitness, or your daily commute, big changes are coming to help make biking in Knoxville safer and more connected for everyone.

The City is updating its Bicycle Facilities Plan, originally developed in 2015, to reflect new priorities and possibilities.
Thanks to a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, this plan will align with Knoxville’s Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic deaths on City-controlled roads by 2040.

A connected, low-stress bike network supports more than just cyclists. It’s about building healthier, more vibrant neighborhoods where everyone from beginners to seasoned riders can move safely and confidently.
Bike Plan ideas
The updated plan will identify gaps in the current bike network, recommend new routes and safety improvements, and prioritize low-stress connectivity across neighborhoods. Ultimately, it will create a system that works for everyone whether you're 8 or 80.

Take the survey before Aug. 31, and help us identify the areas that need safer connections, smoother routes, or better signage.
