The Sports Authority Board is a joint board of the City of Knoxville and Knox County. The Board was created for the purpose of planning, financing, constructing and managing a multi-use stadium in Knoxville.


APPOINTMENT OF BOARD MEMBERS

The Board has seven directors who are recommended by the City Mayor and County Mayor and are jointly appointed by City Council and Knox County Commission. Term are six years with an unlimited number of terms.


MEETINGS SCHEDULE

The newly-appointed Sports Authority – tasked with doing a deep study of a proposed publicly-owned sports and entertainment stadium in East Knoxville, near the Old City – will meet for the first time on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, 700 S. Hall of Fame Drive.

The meeting will be organizational in nature. The Authority will discuss the project background, its timeline and the board members’ roles and responsibilities. The Authority will elect officers and set a schedule for its upcoming meetings.
