What’s on the Ballot?
For the November 4, 2025 Election and early voting October 15-30, the question regarding the proposed sales tax on the ballot will read as follows:
Shall the two and one-quarter percent (2.25%) local option sales tax rate currently levied throughout Knox County be increased to two and three-quarters percent (2.75%) in the City of Knoxville?

Knoxville Voters Will Decide
City Council voted on June 24, 2025 to put this Local Option Sales Tax Proposal on the November 2025 ballot.
Early Voting is October 15-30, 2025.
Election Day is November 4, 2025.
Implementation Details
Should the voters decide to approve the ½ cent increase in the Local Option Sales Tax, the effective date will be March 1, 2026.
Residents and retailers will have more than three months to prepare for the increase after the ballot vote in November 2025.
