A ribbon-cutting celebrating the completion of the Kingston Pike-Forest Park Boulevard Bridge project was held Monday at Forest Park Boulevard near the Highlands Grill.
Mayor Daniel Brown, City Council and County Commission members and others participated in the event.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation project to widen and improve the bridge in addition to expanding Kingston Pike at that location was completed in mid-April.
This TDOT project began in October of 2009 and was initially scheduled for completion in October, 2010. It ran about six months over.
The work involved making improvements to the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks.
In addition TDOT widened Kingston Pike to include a center turn lane.
