Mayor Bill Haslam, Stephanie and Brian Balest - the owners of the S&W Grand, and the 500 Block LLC partners, the development team that renovated the building will lead a ribbon cutting ceremony and press conference for the S&W Grand on Saturday, October 17 at 1 p.m. in front of the restaurant.
The restaurant is opening in the historic downtown building that once housed the S&W Cafeteria. Members of the media will have access to the interior of the building following the ribbon-cutting and members of the restaurant team and development group will be available for interviews.
This is the first of a pair of events leading up to the long-awaited opening of the S&W Grand in the space that was once home to the much-beloved downtown landmark, the S&W Cafeteria.
An open house is set for 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 18th and the public is invited to view the renovated space, which has been designed to look like the S&W did in the 1930s.
The S&W Grand expects to open the middle of next week for business pending final inspection.
The renovation and reopening of the S&W Cafeteria building is a major milestone in the continued revitalization of downtown Knoxville. It joins the Regal Riviera Stadium 8 Theater and the Tennessee Theatre as landmarks in the heart of Knoxville.
