KORE LogoOne of the main goals for the City's Parks and Recreation Department is to improve recreation opportunities for all Knoxvillians.

To aid in this mission, the Knoxville Outdoor Recreation Experience (KORE) program was created.

The KORE program allows the City to aid in helping and encouraging Knoxvillians to enjoy all of the many outdoor recreational opportunities in Knoxville!

KORE OUTDOOR RECREATION PROGRAMS

Parks and Recreation staff lead many outdoor recreation programs - including hiking, paddling, pickleball and more.

Also, Parks & Rec created the KORE 50/100 Challenge, an initiative promoting a variety of outdoor sports and activities for all ages and fitness levels at parks across the city with pages to color to keep track of the hours outside.

KORE SUMMER CAMP

KORE Summer CampCurrently the KORE program provides a Summer Camp for children ages 6-12 years old at ten (9) recreation centers located across the city and a teen camp for kids 12-15 years old at Cal Johnson Recreation Center.

The program spans over 7 weeks in June and July (excluding Juneteenth and the week of July 4th) and provides a wide variety of recreational activities while at the Center and includes field trips to outdoor pools and local attractions, such as Main Event, NASCAR Speedpark, Kentucky Splash Waterpark, and others. Breakfast/lunch or lunch/snack served each day.

KORE MOBILE OUTREACH

KORE Mobile OutreachThe newest addition to KORE is the KORE Mobile Outreach program. KORE Mobile Outreach is a traveling recreation program designed to combat obesity and provide recreational activities in Knoxville’s socioeconomically deprived communities.

The program operates from a very colorful, 14-foot box truck loaded with a variety of physically active equipment and games that are adaptable for all ages and abilities. The KORE Mobile Outreach truck provides fascinating physical fitness adventures that are often disguised as fun and play time. Some of the benefits include cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and teamwork.
