ALCOA HWY STAKEHOLDER
Property along Ramp B will be assigned a new street name and address, necessitated by the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Alcoa Highway widening and redesign project currently underway.
The City of Knoxville wants to help property owners in selecting the right new name for the street.
THE PROJECT
TDOT is building new frontage roads parallel to Alcoa Highway. TDOT’s aim is safety. The design divides northbound and southbound Alcoa Highway, widens it to six lanes and restricts driveway connections, diverting local motorists to frontage roads connected by overpasses.

YOUR STREET ADDRESS
Your property will be accessible from a frontage road tentatively named “Ramp B.” That would be the proposed name and mailing address for your property, unless a different name is selected.
The City’s Office of Neighborhoods has received suggestions for substitute names for Ramp B, and we welcome your input.
Please tell us what you think of these alternatives:
• Change the name from Ramp B to Lakemoor View Street
• Change the name from Ramp B to Lakemoor View Road
• Change the name from Ramp B to Quiet Side Street
• Change the name from Ramp B to Quiet Side Road
• Keep the Ramp B name
• Here’s my suggested name: __________________
We welcome your ideas on what the new street name should be. We encourage you to talk with your neighboring businesses affected by the name change and collaborate with them if you propose a street name.
Suggested names must comply with planning regulations; some names that had been proposed were ineligible for consideration. For example, to avoid errors in dispatching first responders in an emergency, a street name can’t duplicate an existing street name.

MEETING DETAILS
The Public Property Naming Committee makes recommendations on requested namings of streets or other public spaces with input from stakeholders.
The Ramp B name will be discussed at a future meeting in December in the Main Assembly Room, City County Building, 400 Main Street. Check back here for details.
This is the initial step in the street naming process. Any name change would also go before the Metropolitan Planning Commission and City Council before being finalized.
