Nathan Honeycutt is a lifelong Tennessean, architect, business owner, and community leader representing Knoxville’s Second District on City Council.
Raised on a farm in East Tennessee, Nathan learned early the value of hard work, service, and strong local communities. As a teenager, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, an experience that helped shape his interest in neighborhoods, housing, and public service.
Nathan graduated from the University of Tennessee’s School of Architecture. After gaining professional experience in Atlanta and overseas, he returned to Knoxville in 2012 to raise his family and continue his work in architecture, planning, preservation, and community development.
Nathan is a principal and co-owner of McCarty Holsaple McCarty, a Knoxville-based architecture and planning firm. His professional work includes civic, cultural, institutional, planning, preservation, and adaptive reuse projects throughout Knoxville and East Tennessee. He has also served in leadership roles with the East Tennessee Community Design Center, Knox Heritage, and the American Heart Association.
On City Council, Nathan brings a practical, community-focused approach to public service. He is committed to listening to residents, solving practical problems, and making decisions that strengthen Knoxville’s neighborhoods and quality of life. His priorities include responsible growth, historic preservation, attainable housing, public safety, responsible budgeting, and continued investment in sidewalks, parks, greenways, and basic infrastructure.
Nathan lives in the Bearden community with his wife, Amy, a preschool teacher, and their two children, Hudson and Clara.
Nathan Honeycutt was elected to represent Knoxville’s Second District on City Council on November 4, 2025.
