Project TLC in Montgomery & Western Heights
Project TLC came to life this spring with two events hosted by the City’s Office of Community Safety and Empowerment, first in Montgomery Village, where over 200 residents gathered for food, family fun, and vital resources, and then in Western Heights, where nearly 300 people joined for an afternoon of support and celebration.
Thanks to the leadership of Partnerships & Programs Coordinator Star Starks, and the dedication of more than a dozen community partners, these events fostered true connection and opportunity directly into Knoxville neighborhoods.

Kidariffic Title: Kid A’ Riffic Keeps Summer Active and Fun
Kid A’Riffic is back and better than ever, bringing crafts, games, and sunny smiles to parks all across Knoxville.
Each week, families with young children have the chance to explore our parks while and connecting with City departments and community partners in fun and creative ways.
At Safety City, the crowd got an extra surprise, an appearance from a very special guest who stopped by to sing, play, and deliver a playful message just for the kids. From karaoke and bubbles to mini football and high-fives, it was a reminder that childhood joy and imagination are perfect for the summer season.

Meet Two Summer in the City Interns
Our Summer in the City interns are finishing up the fourth week in their departments and getting the hang of getting to work on time, clocking in, and finding lunch downtown.
They’re also getting to know each other through group projects and their Friday activities, which have included packing food boxes and helping judge a business pitch competition at the Aspire Teen Camp at Cal Johnson Community Center.
Communications intern Ntaconayigize Antonia caught up with her colleagues in the Disability Services and PARC departments.

A huge shoutout to Human Resources’ Kristi Tunstall!
Kristi has just been named a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) through World at Work.
While maintaining a full workload here at the City, Kristi managed to put in months of hard work and studying to complete this 10-exam certification.
The CCP process typically takes 2-3 years to complete, and Kristi was able to do it in less than a year!
Currently, she is the only CCP at the City of Knoxville.
To celebrate this accomplishment, the Human Resources Department is excited to invite you to a celebration honoring Kristi!
July 10 at 2 p.m. in Room 575 at the City County Building
Light refreshments will be served.
