CODI Hosting Mayoral Forum July 23, 2019

Posted: 07/22/2019
The Mayor's Council on Disability Issues (CODI) will host a Mayoral Forum on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Main Assembly Room at the City County Building.

CODI members submitted to candidates nine questions that cover a variety of topics, including: accessible housing, parking, transportation and City facilities; increasing the number of people with disabilities in leadership positions; and how candidates would advance the mission of the Americans with Disabilities Act in Knoxville.

All candidates for Mayor and City Council were sent the questions; their answers will be published at KnoxvilleTN.gov/CODI. Candidates have been invited to provide their information at tables in the back of the Main Assembly Room during the forum.

CODI is an advisory group whose purpose is to provide direction and guidance to Mayor Madeline Rogero and City Council on matters concerning individuals with disabilities. It seeks to promote communication and cooperation to remove barriers to full participation in society for people with a disability.

Accessible parking will be available on Level 3 of the City County Building Garage, accessible from West Hill Avenue or Walnut Street. After parking, guests should enter the building from the center doorways on the L-3 parking deck, get checked by security, and then use the elevators to reach Level M and the Main Assembly Room.

CTV will be broadcasting this live and will also have a recording available on their website.

Anyone with questions about CODI or the forum, or who needs a disability accommodation to attend, should contact Cook at [email protected] or 865-215-2034. For an English interpreter, contact Title VI Coordinator Tatia M. Harris at 865-215-2831.
