Cleaner. Quieter. Less Odor.
Downtown Knoxville is growing rapidly, so the City is improving how it collects trash and recyclables.
Beginning this year, new trash compactors are being installed. They are cleaner, quieter and more self-contained.
We are looking forward to cleaner sidewalks and efficiency that just makes sense!
Downtown waste collection has hit its capacity.
Simply put: Trash compactors are necessary.
CURRENTLY:
•
700+ carts, strewn across 80-plus locations
• Crowded sidewalks, leakages, litter
• Limited possibility for growth, with maxed-out crews manually collecting 8-9 times per week
COMING SOON:
•
Modern self-contained compactors
•
Cleaner sidewalks with more room to navigate
•
Less noise, less smell, less litter
Residents and business owners will receive more information as compactors are installed.
