Update #13: Traffic Shifts on Sevier

As the Sevier Avenue Streetscape Project hits the halfway-to-completion mark, look for some significant milestones coming up in the next few months. Most immediately, utility work on the southern side of Sevier Avenue will require both eastbound and westbound driving lanes to be temporarily shifted northward, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 11. This shift will allow Southern Constructors Inc. crews to complete utility upgrades in what's now the existing eastbound lane, between Island Home Avenue and Davenport Road. Read More
Update #12: Changed Traffic Pattern

Southern Constructors Inc. (SCI) is currently working in front of Alliance to install new underground conduit near the middle of the road. Because the work is in the center of the road and the excavation is deep, both lanes have been impacted. To keep everyone safe, SCI has changed the traffic pattern. Drivers are being routed around the work zone by using one lane on the south side and one lane on the north side. Read More
Update #11: Project Completion in 1 Year

Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon joined Old Sevier Merchants Association business owners Thursday evening, heard their ideas and shared updates on several key projects. One big announcement: The City remains on track to complete the Sevier Avenue Streetscape Project in roughly a year. Read More
Update #10: Foggy Bottom Reopening!

This week, anticipate a minor milestone in the Sevier Avenue Streetscape Project: Foggy Bottom Street is reopening, and new lane shifts at the Sevier-Foggy Bottom-Island Home Avenue intersection will be a prelude to construction of the roundabout. Read More

Sevier Avenue stakeholders welcomed some good news at a recent Old Sevier Merchants Association meeting: The upgraded 50-vehicle parking lot on Island Home Avenue, beneath James White Parkway, will become a reality within four months. Read More

Status Update #4: Foggy Bottom Street to Close

Whaley Construction, one of the contractors working on the Sevier Avenue Streetscapes Project, has been issued a permit to close Foggy Bottom Street between Sevier at Island Home Boulevard and Waterfront Drive at the roundabout. The closure could begin as early as this week. Read More

Mayor Indya Kincannon attended the Feb. 13 meeting of the Old Sevier Merchants Association - and came with some good news. If City Council approves the funding, the City later this year will be paving the gravel 50-vehicle parking lot on Island Home Avenue, beneath James White Parkway. Read More

Did you know there are more than 600 public parking spaces (albeit, some closer and more convenient than others) along the Sevier Avenue corridor? That number of available parking spaces won't be reduced during the two-year construction of the Sevier Avenue Streetscapes Project.
