Update #14: Roundabout Taking Shape

Posted: 03/10/2026
March 10, 2026

Whaley Construction crews are making headway on the eastern end of the Sevier Avenue Streetscapes Project corridor — so much so that the signature roundabout element soon will start to be recognizable.

Crews are continuing to bring that area up to grade, and a portion of the emerging roundabout in the coming weeks will be paved.

Once Whaley Construction has paved what it can in the current work zone, its crews will transition to working alongside Southern Constructors crews, which are upgrading the utility infrastructure throughout the corridor. Both Whaley and Southern Constructors at this point will be working in unison, progressing east to west.

The utility work, meanwhile, remains on schedule. Traffic will continue to be flagged periodically, similar to what's happening now. Both lanes of Sevier Avenue will be open and free flowing when workers are not present.

The priorities for the City and the contractors are three-fold: Keep driveways and business entrances accessible. Coordinate and communicate with stakeholders. And stay on schedule for an early 2027 project completion.

Meanwhile, here are a few more photos from the eastern end of the project corridor this week:
