Southern Constructors Inc. (SCI) is currently working in front of Alliance to install new underground conduit near the middle of the road.

The soil under the pavement is loose and can wash out easily.

To avoid conflicts with existing infrastructure, the conduit must be installed at a significant depth, approximately 7 feet or more.
 
Because the work is in the center of the road and the excavation is deep, both lanes have been impacted. To keep everyone safe, SCI has changed the traffic pattern. Drivers are being routed around the work zone by using one lane on the south side and one lane on the north side.
 
This traffic setup will stay in place through the end of the week while crews finish this section. Similar work may happen in other spots as the project continues.
 
Parking Impact:

Parking in front of Alliance is currently impacted and will continue to be impacted for the next few months as more underground work is completed.
 
Motorist and Business Advisory:

Please allow extra travel time when passing through this area, follow posted signage, and use caution near the work zone.

Businesses in front of Alliance may experience temporary parking impacts during this phase of construction.

 
Lighting Update:

The new lights under James White Parkway are expected to be operational tomorrow.
