When Should I Call the Non-Emergency Line?



The Management Services Bureau includes the support divisions that are responsible for the non-patrol and investigative functions of the Police Department. Beginning with the Management Support staff, other units include the Budget Office, Payroll, Building Services, Planning and Grants, Personnel, Recruitment, Property Management, Fleet and Supplies.
  
The dedicated volunteer Chaplains fall within this group and support both sworn and professional staff across the department. The Reserve program and secondary employment coordinators report to the Bureau Deputy Chief to ensure department needs are met.

Larger Units under the Management Services umbrella include Technical Services, Records and NCIC.

Captain Brian Evans is the Knoxville Police Department’s Professional Development Captain and oversees the training academy as well as the Department’s recruitment efforts.

Captain Evans, who previously served as the West District Commander, has been with KPD since 1998 and has served in numerous positions in the Field Operations Bureau, including the East and West Districts, Inspections Divisions and the Traffic Division.

Captain Evans holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

Captain Don Jones is a 35-year veteran of the Knoxville Police Department who currently serves as the Support Services Captain within the Management Services Bureau.

He previously served as the Acting Deputy Chief over the Field Operations Bureau.

Jones has served the KPD in numerous capacities, including a long stint as the department's training coordinator. He also served on the Special Operations Squad for 14 years, retiring from the team in 2004.

He was promoted to Captain in 2005 and has been assigned to the Field Operations Bureau for the bulk of his time since promoting to Captain.
