This award was named for the late Diana Conn and was presented to her posthumously at the 2013 Neighborhood Conference.
Diana Conn was active in the Old Sevier Community Group. She served as moderator, called the phone list each month, delivered fliers and newsletters door to door, and visited with older members unable to attend the monthly meetings. She participated in numerous neighborhood conferences, locally and nationally.
Her blue pickup truck was a familiar sight at neighborhood cleanups, and the OSCG won beautification awards due in large part to her flower-planting efforts. An advocate for neighborhood crime watch, she was a graduate of KPD's Citizens Police Academy.
"Whenever you thought about South Knoxville, you thought of Diana Conn," friend and colleague Whitney Stanley observed.

Each year, the Office of Neighborhood Empowerment accepts nominations for the
Diana Conn Good Neighbor of the Year Award, which is presented annually to a City of Knoxville resident who -- in the spirit of cooperation and with commitment to inclusive community -- has devoted time and talent in service to his or her neighbors and neighborhood.
All nominees are honored by Mayor Indya Kincannon at our annual Neighborhood Awards Dinner, which will be held in early March. The Mayor also announces the winner, who is recommended by a committee of the Neighborhood Advisory Council.
If you would like to nominate a neighbor, fill out
this application and turn it in to Shannett Riley at
