On Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:37 pm, the Knoxville Fire Department responded to a moving van on fire in the Budget Truck Rentals parking lot, 4742 Centerline Drive.
Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from all areas of the truck.
Knoxville Fire Investigators responded and determined the fire had been set by a male suspect who was still at the scene. 47-year-old Leif Jackson was taken into custody for several charges related to the truck fire.
During the investigation, Knoxville Fire Investigators determined he was also a suspect in a fire that occurred on November 29, 2024, at the Home Depot, 4710 Centerline Drive.
The fire at Home Depot involved building material that was set on fire in the front loading area. Fortunately, the fire remained small and only caused minor damage to the building. Leif Jackson was charged with one count of Arson for this incident.
In an unrelated incident, on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 12:57 p.m., the Knoxville Fire Department responded to a small fire in the MLK Tower building on the Knoxville College Campus.
While Knoxville Fire Investigators were investigating that fire, they encountered 53-year-old Jermain Williams, who was trespassing in the building.
Jermain Williams was taken into custody and charged with one count of Criminal Trespassing for this incident.
