Downtown Knoxville is growing rapidly, so the City is improving how it collects trash and recyclables.

Beginning this year, new trash and recycling compactors are being installed. They are cleaner, have greater capacity, and keep waste contained.

We are looking forward to cleaner sidewalks and efficiency that just makes sense!

NOW:

• 700+ carts, strewn across 80-plus locations

• Crowded sidewalks, leakages, litter

• Limited possibility for growth, with maxed-out crews manually collecting 8-9 times per week

COMING SOON:

• Modern self-contained compactors

• Cleaner sidewalks, less odor, less litter

• Greater capacity that will grow with Downtown
