Anticipate work beginning in earnest next week on the Sevier Avenue Streetscapes Project.
What's that mean for merchants and residents?
Whaley Construction crews will begin mobilizing on the east end of the construction zone. This includes the area where the roundabout will be constructed. Equipment and materials will be moved on site.
Orange construction signs and barrels will define the new traffic pattern to benefit motorists and pedestrians so work can begin. Traffic will remain flowing in both directions on Sevier Avenue and Island Home Avenue. Foggy Bottom will be temporarily closed as early as the end of next week, or the following week. Pedestrian access will remain to businesses throughout the project.
Whaley Construction plans to begin clearing vegetation and grubbing by the end of next week.
Utility work by Southern Constructors is expected to start on the east end in early to mid-February.
