On Saturday morning at 07:49, The Knox County Emergency Communications District received a 911 call from an alert neighbor for a reported porch on fire at the Addison at Sutherland.
The neighbor also alerted the occupant of the apartment.
Due to the quick actions of the neighbor, the fire was quickly brought under control through the use of a portable fire extinguisher.
On KFD’s arrival, the initial fire company was able to extinguish the fire completely.
The building's exterior wall suffered minor damage.
Thanks to a quick-thinking neighbor, the damage was limited and likely prevented a much larger fire on this frigid December morning.
