City Offices Closed Sept. 1 for Labor Day

City of Knoxville offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, for the Labor Day holiday. 

Closures include the 311 Center for Service Innovation, which operates 311 and 211. Residents who need to report potholes, overgrown lots or other issues are encouraged to use the My Knoxville app, available for iPhone and Android at KnoxvilleTN.gov/app. To access a list of social services available through 211, residents can utilize the online chatbot at KnoxvilleTN.gov/chatbot or visit 211.org.

All residential garbage and recycling will be picked up on schedule, so place carts at the curb by 7 a.m. Downtown trash and recycling will also run on a regular schedule throughout Labor Day weekend.

The City's Solid Waste Facility (1033 Elm Street) will be closed Saturday, Aug. 30, through Monday, Sept. 1, resuming regular hours Tuesday, Sept. 2. Visit KnoxvilleTN.gov/solidwaste for more info.

The City's recycling centers will be open, but the Goodwill attendant will not be available to receive household goods donations on Monday, Sept. 1. Only leave donations at attended donation centers.

Knoxville Area Transit buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Sept. 1. The Customer Service counter will be open 8 a.m. to noon. See routes and schedules using the Transit app or online at KATBus.com.  

The City’s outdoor pools will operate regular hours this holiday weekend, then close for the season. Ed Cothren (1737 Reynolds St.) and Inskip (4204 Bruhin Road) pools will be open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Monday, as well as 1-6 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5. 

Parks and Rec invites dogs to swim at Inskip Pool on Doggie Dip Nights on Tuesday, Sept. 2, and Thursday, Sept. 4, 5-8 p.m. Cost is $5 per adult, $5 per dog with a limit of two dogs per person.
