Knoxville proudly welcomed 36 new officers into the Knoxville Police Department on July 10, 2025, during a graduation ceremony held at Sevier Heights Church.
This milestone marks the largest and most diverse Basic Recruit Class in Mayor Indya Kincannon’s tenure, with members representing 14 states and one international country.
The 2025-A class reflects KPD’s continued commitment to recruiting talent from all walks of life to serve Knoxville with professionalism, compassion, and pride.

Hailing from 14 different states and one international country, this diverse class includes 26 men and 10 women, with backgrounds in firefighting, the military, logistics, optometry, sales, tech, and automotive repair.
Fifteen of the recruits are military veterans, bringing a wealth of life experience, discipline, and dedication to public service.
“Talented people like you have a lot of options,” Mayor Kincannon said in her remarks. “You could live anywhere and do anything. But you chose Knoxville. You chose to serve.”
The ceremony, emceed by KPD Communications Director Scott Erland, featured remarks from Chief Paul Noel and Recruit Class President Officer Fransica P. Salas-Chavez. Each new officer received their badge and diploma from Chief Noel, Mayor Kincannon, and Lt. Adam Minner after being officially sworn in by Judge Tyler Caviness.
This class completed months of rigorous training from Tennessee law and criminal procedure to de-escalation, community engagement, and physical readiness.
The City extends its gratitude to the instructors, families, and mentors who shaped these recruits into the officers they are today. Their support helped prepare a new generation of officers committed to professionalism, respect, and compassion.
Congratulations to KPD’s 2025-A Basic Recruit Class. Your service makes Knoxville stronger, safer, and more united.
