Meet Star Starks!

Partnership and Programs Coordinator for the
Office of Community Safety and Empowerment, Star has been instrumental in several initiatives, including the collaborative
Project TLC program which has successfully reduced violence in three neighborhoods across the city.
“With a strong focus on intervention at every age, I design and implement programs that address the root causes of violence and expand access to life-changing resources—from employment pathways to trauma-informed care,” she says. “My work reflects my deep commitment to advancing the social, emotional, and economic well-being of our city.”
It's clear she’s a foodie from her list of favorite dishes, most of which are found at eateries outside of Knoxville:
• The Hawaiian at Houston's
• Mac & Yams Soul Rolls at Jordyn's Soul Cafe
• Oxtails at Crav'n Caribbean
• New Orleans Praline Pecan at Kilwins
• Drago's oysters
Now that you’re drooling, who’s up for a road trip? Star would be a great guide.
Another little-known fact about Star is that she writes and performs poetry, primarily for nonprofits and churches. Let’s plan to include some open mics on that travel itinerary.
Thanks for all you do for the people of Knoxville, Star!
