Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) teaches participants about hazards that could affect our community, how to prepare for them and how to help your family, neighbors, or coworkers in the immediate aftermath of an emergency, before responders arrive.  
 
CERT is a nationally supported initiative hosted by the Knoxville-Knox County Emergency Management Agency (KEMA) in partnership with local emergency response agencies. The Knox County CERT program is focused on personal preparedness training for disasters and connecting people with local volunteer agencies for response opportunities.
 
CERT is free to community members and offered via in-person sessions, with a different topic covered each month.


The Course Includes

10 sessions covering unique topics offered at various locations on the First Tuesday of each month. Upon attending all 10 topics, Community members qualify to participate in a disaster simulation exercise.

Community Emergency Response Team

Knox County does not maintain an active Community Emergency Response Team, but rather provides training for community members to be prepared for disasters and connects them to existing service organizations in the community.
