      Recycle Christmas TreesLive Christmas trees are collected with brush in City neighborhoods. After all decorations have been removed, trees should be placed at the street for collection.

      Please note that Public Service Department crews will be concentrating on leaf collection and will pick up brush and Christmas trees as time allows.

      The regular two week schedule for brush will not begin until March 1, depending on the area of the city. Thank you for your patience.


      CHRISTMAS LIGHTS RECYCLING

      You can recycle your old or unwanted Christmas lights at the following locations:

      • Any donation store should take working holiday lights. If they're not in working condition, you can still bring them to any Goodwill donation store for recycling.
      • Any City of Knoxville recycling drop-off center (only when given to a Goodwill attendant between 8am - 8pm!)
      • County Convenience Centers at Halls, Dutchtown, John Sevier and Karns (must be given to an attendant!)
      • The City of Knoxville Household Hazardous Waste facility located at 1033 Elm St (for households only - no businesses)


      Recycling Christmas TreeCOUNTY TREECYCLING PROGRAM

      City residents can also take advantage of Knox County's Tree-Cycling program.

      In the month of January, Knox County residents may bring their live Christmas trees to any Knox County Convenience Center for free recycling. Please note that Convenience Centers are always closed on Wednesdays, Sundays, and published holidays.

      • Halls Convenience Center – 3608 Neal Drive
      • John Sevier Convenience Center – 1950 West John Sevier Highway

      • Powell Convenience Center – 7311 Morton View Lane
      • Tazewell Pike Convenience Center – 7201 Tazewell Pike

      MORE INFORMATION ABOUT CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING:

      • Trees must be completely free of all decorations, including ornaments, tinsel, wire, string, and Christmas lights.
      • No other green waste or tree limbs will be collected.
      • Fake trees are considered bulky waste.
      • Garland and wreaths mounted on wires should be thrown in the trash.
      • Non-working tree lights can be recycled in the designated electronics collection container at the Dutchtown, Halls, John Sevier, or Karns Convenience Centers and will be accepted as trash at centers where they are not collected for recycling.
