The City offers a variety of other benefits to its employees.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) - The City provides an EAP to all benefits-eligible employees and their dependents.  The EAP provides up to 10 counseling sessions per issue per year for normal life issues. To make an appointment please call 1-800-986-4513.   You may also access their website at: www.login.breehealth.com.  Or, download the mobile app:  Bree Health

EMPLOYEE BUS PASS PROGRAM - This pilot program was developed by the City to enhance its benefits package, reduce City greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce parking congestion.  All benefits-eligible employees are able to receive one 30-day bus pass each month. All benefits-eligible employees are able to receive one (1) 30-day pass each month. To request your pass, please complete the Bus Pass Application [PDF] and return it to Employee Benefits.

This program is a commitment from the City to enhance its benefits package, reduce City greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce parking congestion.  Each ride on the bus will help keep more of your hard-earned dollars in your pocket by lowering your gas bill.

For more information on route planning, or how to use a bus pass, please visit KAT's website at:  www.katbus.com (opens in new window). Printed maps and information on using a 20-ride pass are also available in the Employee Benefits Office, Room 504 in CCB.

LONG TERM DISABILITY PLAN - Short-term absences can be covered through the use of sick days, annual pay, and the Sick Leave Bank. However, the City provides long-term disability coverage for all benefit-eligible employees.  Employees eligible for coverage will have coverage on the first day of the month after they have completed sixty (60) days of permanent, full-time employment. The coverage costs you nothing, so if you have an illness or injury and you will be out of work greater than 90 days, you will need to contact Employee Benefits at 865-215-2111.

Some disabilities may not be covered or may be limited under this coverage. Please note that Long-term disability benefits are reduced by deductible sources of income and disability earnings. Deductible sources of income include the amount you receive as loss of time benefits under worker's compensation; the amount that you receive or are entitled to receive as loss of time disability income payments under any other insurance policy or welfare plan; the gross amount that you, your spouse and children receive or are entitled to receive as loss of time disability payments because of disability under Social Security, Railroad Retirement or other similar plan or act; the gross amount that you receive as retirement payments or the gross amount your spouse and children receive as retirement payments under Social Security, Railroad Retirement or other similar plan or act; or the amount you receive as disability payments under your Employer's retirement plan.

Such longevity payments shall be in the amount of $120 multiplied by the number of years beyond the first four years to a maximum of 20 years.

Annual longevity payments for each calendar year shall be paid in equal biweekly installments with the first regular payroll payment of each calendar year.

For more information about paid longevity payments, please contact Human Resources at 865-215-3100.

SAFETY PROGRAMS - The City has a written agreement with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development for the City to self-enforce safety regulations. That document also functions as an Executive Order implementing the City's safety program. Please call Risk Management at 865-215-3338 for more information.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT - Tuition reimbursement for employees is a plan which offers financial assistance to an employee who takes college-level courses directly related to his/her work or to a position the employee might conceivably be considered for in the future and which is likely to increase his/her value to the City.

WORKERS' COMPENSATION - The City contracts with Premise Health to provide on-site medical services, including treatment of work related injuries at the Health, Education and Wellness Center (The Center) as well as on-site physical therapy. Case management, ergonomics and vocational rehabilitation are also provided on-site. Please call Risk Management at 865-215-3338 for more information.
