Keep Knoxville Beautiful to host America Recycles Day Collection at Ijams Nature Center

Posted: 10/17/2019
America Recycles DayKeep Knoxville Beautiful will be hosting a recycling collection party on November 16 in celebration of America Recycles Day!

The event will take place at Ijams Nature Center, located at 2915 Island Home Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Keep Knoxville Beautiful will be collecting glass bottles and jars, plastic film and bags, and gently-used clothing for donation. At noon, Keep Knoxville Beautiful will be organizing a clothing swap where recyclers can swap their old for new-to-them clothing. All remaining clothes after the swap will be donated to AMVETS Thrift Stores and South Knoxville Elementary.

Captain Muchacho’s food truck will be ready to serve lunch throughout the event, and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company will be delivering up some beer – and the first beer is free to recyclers! Keep Knoxville Beautiful staff will be on site to answer all your questions on litter prevention, recycling, and beautification in Knox County.

America Recycles Day is a nationally-recognized day set on promoting and celebrating recycling in the US. This day is an intiative of Keep America Beautiful initiative and celebrated nationally on November 15 each year.

Keep Knoxville Beautiful’s America Recycles Day is made possible by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Cherokee Distributing Company, Ijams Nature Center, WestRock, UT Recycling, and AMVETS Thrift Store. More information can be found at www.keepknoxvilebeautiful.org/upcoming
