Street Markings in West Knoxville to Begin May 7, 2018

Posted: 05/04/2018
If you want the painted yellow striping on your street to look crisp and not muddled, give the City paint crew a few minutes to finish the markings. These City efforts enhance the safety of Knoxville motorists.

Starting Monday, May 7, City Traffic Engineering will begin marking a network of heavily-traveled streets in West Knoxville. The painting will continue for two weeks, through Friday, May 18. Crews will be working Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To keep Knoxville’s streets looking their best, City engineers are asking for drivers’ help through this street-marking process. The most frequent tracking of paint occurs when motorists drive around the paint truck.

“The drying time is typically two to five minutes for the street marking paint,” said Jeff Branham, Traffic Engineering Chief for the City of Knoxville. “We realize that people have places to be, so we do our best to get out of the way as soon as possible.”

Over the two-week period, drivers will be alerted of road work ahead by message boards when possible, signs that read “PAINT CREW AHEAD,” or cones with “WET PAINT” signs on these streets:
