Save Our Sons Mar. 31, 2018 event flyerThe City of Knoxville’s Save Our Sons initiative is partnering with the Knoxville Police Department (KPD), Knox County Attorney General’s Office, the City’s Police Advisory and Review Committee (PARC) and The Change Center to host a Positive Engagement with Law Enforcement workshop Saturday, March 31, from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at KPD’s Training Center (6838 Cement Plant Road).

TaKisha Fitzgerald, Assistant District Attorney General in Knox County Attorney General’s Office, is one of the featured speakers at the workshop and will be challenging participants to determine their own destiny. “I believe that young people are assets in the community and should be empowered and included in how it operates,” she stated.

KPD is offering free transportation and will pick up attendees at 9:30 a.m. from the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA, 124 Cruze Street. Lunch is sponsored by The Change Center and catered by Jackie’s Dream Café, 2223 McCalla Ave.

“Save Our Sons is excited to collaborate with our community partners to present this opportunity to encourage positive interaction with law enforcement and engage young men and boys of color in developing a mind-set and strategy to think more broadly about their futures,” said Save Our Sons Outreach Manager Kevin Perry.
