McReynolds Receives Recognition for Firefighter of the Quarter

Posted: 10/29/2018
On Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, Mayor Madeline Rogero and Fire Chief Stan Sharp recognized Fire Captain Chris McReynolds as Firefighter of the First Quarter of 2018.

On January 3, 2018 at 8:24 a.m., as off duty Captain McReynolds was driving past Bell Walker Crossing Apartments he noticed heavy smoke coming from building 8331. McReynolds called 911, parked his vehicle, then ran to the occupied building and began knocking on every door alerting the tenants of the danger.

With a cast on his arm and without gear, Captain McReynolds single-handedly cleared all of the occupants from the building before emergency crews arrived.

Had it not been for the actions of Captain McReynolds, this incident would have had a more devastating outcome.
