Zoo Knoxville to Offer Knox Co. Students Free Field Trip Admission in 2018

Posted: 12/20/2017
Tiger Forest at Zoo KnoxvilleKnox County students will receive free admission to Zoo Knoxville when visiting on a school field trip in 2018 as part of a pilot program to support STEM education.

Zoo Knoxville is launching this pilot program to enable more students to experience one of the best learning opportunities located right in their own county.  Children are curious about animals and the natural world.  Teaching key STEM concepts through the zoo’s animal ambassadors keeps children engaged in many core curriculum topics.

“The City of Knoxville and Knox County are Zoo Knoxville’s biggest stakeholders.  Thanks to our partnership with them we are able to make the zoo more accessible for Knox County students and inspire the next generation of conservationists,” said Zoo Knoxville Board Chair Eddie Mannis.

“It is part of our mission to make education about wildlife and wild places accessible and exciting,” said Zoo Knoxville President and CEO Lisa New.  “This program underscores our commitment to education, particularly STEM subjects.  It is also a way to thank our community for encouraging us to expand our vision and experiences.

Information for Knox County educators about how to schedule a field trip and schedule other educational programming offered by Zoo Knoxville can be found online at zoofieldtrip.com or by calling the zoo at 865-637-5331.
