Lanes Closed as Infrastructure Work Gets Under Way

Road Closures March 20, 2014 - Infrastructure work is prompting some lane closures in different parts of Knoxville this week.

Today through Wednesday, April 9 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. weekdays

KUB has closed an eastbound lane on a short section of Western Avenue between Sullivan Road and Hinton Drive to accommodate the completion of maintenance work on the natural gas distribution system in this area. The westbound lane will remain open, and the turn lane will be used for eastbound traffic while this work is completed. Access to driveways and other entrances/exits will remain open for local traffic and emergency vehicles.

Today through Wednesday, March 26 from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

AT&T infrastructure work is closing a lane on Union Avenue near Market Street.

Today from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

KUB has closed the westbound curbside lane on a short section of Cumberland Avenue between 13th Street and James Agee Street due to work on the water distribution system. One westbound lane and both eastbound lanes are open.

Friday, March 21 (7 p.m.) through Monday, March 24 (6 a.m.)

The ramp from I-640 West to I-275 South will be closed as crews perform bridge repairs, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation. During this time, motorists on I-640 West wishing to access I-275 should continue on I-640 West and take I-40 East back to I-275 at Exit 387A.

Sunday, March 23 (7 p.m. start)

Anticipate lane closures and traffic shifts on I-640 East approaching the bridge over I-275 as crews begin bridge repairs. I-640 East will be reduced to two lanes around the clock while repairs are ongoing.

Also, during this time, the ramp from I-75/I-275 South to I-640 East (Exit 3) will be closed. Motorists traveling I-75 South wishing to access I-640 East should continue on I-275 South to I-40 East back to I-640.
