Nathan Honeycutt is a lifelong Tennessean, architect, business owner, and community leader serving Knoxville’s Second District on City Council.
Raised on a farm in East Tennessee, he developed an early appreciation for service and the importance of strong communities, including volunteering with Habitat for Humanity as a teenager.
Nathan is a graduate of the University of Tennessee’s School of Architecture and, after professional experience in Atlanta and overseas, returned to Knoxville in 2012 to raise his family.
Nathan is a principal and co-owner of McCarty Holsaple McCarty (MHM), a Knoxville-based architecture and planning firm. His work includes numerous civic, cultural, and institutional projects throughout Knoxville, as well as the adaptive reuse of historic buildings into sustainable, community-oriented spaces. He has served in leadership roles with organizations including the East Tennessee Community Design Center, Knox Heritage, and the American Heart Association.
Elected in 2025, Nathan brings a practical, neighborhood-focused approach to City Council. His policy priorities include preservation, attainable housing, strategic growth planning, and continued investment in sidewalks, parks, and greenways.
Nathan resides in the Bearden community with his wife, Amy, a preschool teacher, and their two children, Hudson and Clara.
Nathan Honeycutt was elected to represent the 2nd District on Knoxville City Council on November 4, 2025.
