LAKESHORE PARK'S NORTHSHORE ENTRANCE TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY
The Lakeshore Park Conservancy is moving forward with its $42 million next step in park improvements, including construction of baseball fields, pavilions, a new playground, new parking, drainage infrastructure and more.

To ensure public safety during this stage of construction, the Conservancy will be closing the Northshore Drive entrance and exit to the park for six to eight months, starting Monday, Oct. 10, 2022.

A section of the perimeter loop trail will be closing Nov. 1, 2022 and will remain closed until spring 2024 (though a temporary soft-surface trail will be built that skirts the construction zone and allows walkers to continue to enjoy a circuitous tour of the park).

When the trail and Northshore Drive entrance reopen, both will have safer design features.

A popular location to runners and walkers, Lakeshore Park provides spectacular vistas of Fort Loudoun Lake and the Smoky Mountains. Results from the City greenway laser counter project proved Lakeshore Greenway to be the most heavily used greenway in Knoxville.

Lakeshore Park is managed by the Lakeshore Park Conservancy, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to preserve, protect, and maintain the Park for public use and to provide on-going financial support for operation, expansion, enhancement, and beautification of the Park. The future development of Lakeshore Park and all park improvements will be supported by private donations.
