If you are a person with either intellectual or physical disabilities, or are helping someone who is, the Knox County Health Department wants you to sign up online for the Covid-19 vaccine wait list.

On February 10, 2021, Knox County Health Department (KCHD) released a new online registration platform so qualifying individuals can join a waitlist for future vaccination opportunities. You can sign up on their website https://covid.knoxcountytn.gov. When there is vaccine available, you will receive an email from the Health Department informing you of the location for where you can receive the vaccine.

Please go to the recommended site if you are able. If the location is not one that works for either you or the person you or the person you are trying to assist in terms of medical conditions and/or safety, please contact the Health Department staff at 865-215-5555. For those without internet or computer access, you can call KCHD's Public Information Line (865-215-5555) or Knoxville 3-1-1 (865-215-4311)

Multiple City departments are working to make downtown and neighborhoods – as well as City parks and recreation programs – more accessible to people with disabilities. Stephanie Cook, the City's ADA Coordinator, sees progress being made. She's pleased the City is prioritizing walkable neighborhoods, and more paths are being opened for people using wheelchairs. "The past few years have been good ones in terms of accessibility," she said. "We're definitely going in the right direction." The accessible picnic tables, overlooks and playground at Suttree Landing Park are "crown jewels," Cook said.
