Parks and Recreation Department seeks lifeguards to work at the City’s two outdoor pools for the 2024 summer season.
Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Aaron Browning says the City needs approximately 70 lifeguards to adequately staff the Ed Cothren and Inskip pools throughout the summer season, which runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
“Lifeguards are a staple of our outdoor pools as their efforts allow families to enjoy a safe and fun environment throughout the summer,” says Browning. “Lifeguarding allows individuals the ability to develop valuable life lessons, such as effective communication, decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork, responsibility, and leadership skills while having fun and making friends.”
The City’s Aquatics Specialists conduct American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and Re-Certification Courses each spring as Parks & Recreation ramps up for the summer pool season. Once hired, lifeguards receive free uniforms, paid in-service trainings, flexible scheduling, ability to work year-round, and promotional opportunities.
