KUB Road Closures on Main and State Streets for Utility Maintenance

KUB Closures on Main & State StreetsKUB and its contractor, Garney Construction, will maintain a closure of the intersection of Main Street and State Street from Wednesday, April 1, through Saturday, April 11, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project. 

A short section of State Street between Union Avenue and Commerce Avenue to one lane of traffic from 10 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, through 5 a.m., Wednesday April 1 Main Street from South Gay Street to South Central Street will also remain closed through April 11. 

Traffic wishing to enter/exit the Dwight Kessel Metropolitan Parking Garage should use State Street or West Hill Avenue. The on ramp to James White Parkway from State Street will remain open. Traffic entering the First Tennessee Plaza Parking garage should enter via Cumberland Avenue, and exit via State Street. 

Temporary two-way traffic will be maintained on Cumberland Avenue (between South Gay Street and the parking garage) for traffic entering the First Tennessee Plaza Parking Garage ONLY. 

Alternate routes include West Hill Avenue, Cumberland Avenue, South Gay Street, South Central Street, and Walnut Street. All work is weather permitting. As work areas shift, follow up advisories will be issued. 

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use extreme caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
