KUB Lane Closures on Walnut St. and Gay St.

KUB lane closures on Walnut & GayAs part of their Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project, KUB will have lane closures on Walnut St. and Gay St. this week.

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project - South Gay Street-Cumberland Avenue Intersection Lane Closure [May 11] - KUB and its contractor will close one lane of the intersection of South Gay Street at Cumberland Avenue on Monday, May 11, from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project. Westbound Cumberland Avenue traffic through the intersection will still be allowed. Southbound Gay Street traffic should continue to follow the W. Church Avenue, Locust Street, and Main Street detour that is already in place due to ongoing work on this block of S. Gay Street. Follow up advisories will be issued as necessary.

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project - Walnut Street Lane Closure [May 11-31] - KUB and its contractor will reduce Walnut Street between W. Hill Avenue and Main Street to one lane of northbound traffic starting Monday, May 11, through Sunday, May 30, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project.

One lane of northbound traffic will be maintained on this section of roadway during construction. Walnut Street between the City County Parking Garage Exit and W. Hill Avenue remains closed to through traffic (traffic from Neyland Drive to Walnut Street must enter the City County Parking garage - no through traffic allowed).

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use extreme caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
