DIRECTIONS: Head south on the Henley Street bridge, and at the red light at Baptist Hospital, turn right onto Blount Ave. (Train tunnel is one lane only.) Continue about 1.5 miles to next red light. On your right will be Mary Vestal Park.Continue straight (approx. 100 ft.) Recreation center is on left. (Entrance is before the railroad tracks.)


Elmer Brine Pool is located inside the South Knoxville Community Center.


HOURS & COST

Cost:
$3 per person per visit.  Splash Pass [PDF] available for frequent visitors. 

Summer Hours (May 20 to Labor Day):  
POOL WILL BE CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE JUNE 3-24.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., 
Tuesdays & Thursdays 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
* No evening or weekend hours during the summer

Fall/Winter/Spring Hours (Labor Day to mid-May):
Monday, Wednesday, & Friday: 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tuesday & Thursday:  7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. & 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Open Swim 10 a.m.-2:45 p.m. 10 a.m.-2:45 p.m.



Classes take precedence over Open Swim.  Open Swim begins at 10:00 a.m.

HISTORY OF ELMER BRINE POOL

The pool is named for former beloved lifeguard Elmer Brine. Elmer was easily recognizable as he life-guarded in his 60s and 70s.


RULES AND REGULATIONS IN CITY RECREATION CENTERS

The following are prohibited in city recreation centers:

1) Possession of firearms and weapons
2) Possession of drugs, alcohol, or any elicit substance
3) Smoking or use of tobacco products
4) Gambling
5) Use of profanity
6) Fighting
7) Dunking or hanging on rims of basketball goals
8) Pets
9) Only indoor court shoes allowed (ex: tennis shoes or non-markingsoles)

Violation of these rules or any other rules set by individual centers may result in suspension from this center and others. Suspensionterms will be set by each center.
