Budget Retreat

Mayor Kincannon, Senior Staff, City Council Meet for Mid-Year Budget Review

Today, Feb. 14, 2020, Mayor Indya Kincannon and City Council representatives participated in the mid-year budget retreat, kicking off the public process of preparing the City’s budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

The annual event was held at the City’s Public Works Service Center, 3131 Morris Ave, with senior City staff in attendance and available to answer questions.

Budget RetreatMayor Kincannon laid out the priorities that will ultimately help shape her first State of the City Address to be held in April: public safety; healthy and connected neighborhoods; a clean and resilient future that addresses climate change; and the opportunity to support businesses of all sizes and strengthen career pathways for all residents.

The Mayor said, “My priorities reflect what I heard from the people of Knoxville on the campaign trail.”

Following the Mayor’s remarks, Interim Chief Financial Officer Boyce Evans presented an update on the City's robust financial health, including the City's all-time high bond ratings, and what to expect in upcoming trends and sources of revenue.

Senior Advisor to the Mayor Bill Lyons, and Deputies to the Mayor Erin Gill (Chief Policy Officer) and David Brace (Chief Operations Officer), presented an overview of City services and initiatives.

Community Television of Knoxville (CTV) broadcast the proceedings live on its cable channel and at CTVKnox.org, where you can find on-demand video of the event.
