Family-Friendly New Year's Eve in Downtown Knoxville

Posted: 12/30/2013
Hundreds of revelers are anticipated to watch a ball drop and fireworks, ushering in the 2014 new year at Market Square on Dec 31, 2013.

Earlier in the day, the Holidays on Ice skating rink will be open from 1 p.m.-midnight, with festival foods and face painting at the ice rink.

More vendors will set up booths, selling roasted peanuts and making balloon animals, from 5-9 p.m.

Several businesses on Market Square will offer inside concerts, and restaurants will be open.

Music on the Square, with piped-in music and large screens displaying photographs of 2013 highlights, begins at 11 p.m.

The second-by-second countdown to 2014 starts at 11:59 p.m., with the ball drop, fireworks and singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
