Comcast Christmas at Chilhowee Park Lights Up the Holidays

Posted: 12/12/2013
A forest of lighted trees floating on a lake will welcome visitors to Comcast Christmas at Chilhowee Park, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.

Presented by Comcast, the winter wonderland at Chilhowee Park features musical performances, free pictures with Santa Claus, train rides around the lake, hot cocoa and more for children of all ages.

Banjo player Anna Uptain and the student choir from the University-Assisted Community School at Pond Gap will kick off the festivities with a selection of Christmas songs, prior to Santa's arrival via train. There will also be a ceremony to reopen the historic Bandstand at Chilhowee Park. The 1910 building was recently renovated.

In addition to hot cocoa and marshmallow roasting, Austin-East High School's Culinary Arts Department will supply free goodies in Mrs. Claus' bakeshop. The students will also help kids to decorate gingerbread houses on display.

Other sponsors for Comcast Christmas at Chilhowee Park include WNOX 93.1/The Journal Broadcast Group, the Knoxville News Sentinel, WVLT-TV 8, Cheerwine, Krispy Kreme, Kroger and the Salvation Army.

The lights at Chilhowee Park will be open for viewing through nightly driving tours from now until Jan. 1, 2014.
