Dr. Bob Encourages Locals to Get Out and Play in Knoxville Parks

Posted: 06/22/2012
On June 21, 2012, Dr. Bob Overholt will launch the first of his monthly "Get Out and Play with Dr. Bob" series, a virtual tour and health guide to Knoxville parks, on WBIR TV-10.

"Get Out and Play with Dr. Bob" is a joint effort to raise awareness about neighborhood parks and address Tennessee's rising childhood obesity epidemic. The series is presented by the Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center, Knoxville Parks and Recreation, the Legacy Park Foundation's Outdoor Knoxville Center, and WBIR TV-10.

PME Communications is producing the short "Get Out and Play" videos with Dr. Bob advising Knoxvillians on ways to stay active and healthy in our parks. The monthly videos will be featured on the OutdoorKnoxville.com web site and will be announced live on Thursday on WBIR TV-10.

The first featured park will be West Hills Park (410 N Winston Rd.), soon to be home of the new West Hills Tennis Center. The clubhouse completion is slated for the end of the summer. West Hills Park also features Jean Teague Greenway, a major portion of the 4.5-mile greenway connection running from West Hills Elementary to the Carmike Wynnsong Theater off of N. Peters Rd.

"Dr. Bob," as he is known to both patients and viewers, is host of the long-running Dr. Bob Show, which airs regionally on 10News2 and the East Tennessee PBS affiliate. He has been a member of the WBIR-TV family for more than 20 years, appearing twice each week on local news programs.
