City to Host a Bus Tour of Community Development Projects

The City of Knoxville's Community Development Department is hosting a bus tour of the department's projects from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6.

The City of Knoxville Community Development Department staff is hosting the bus tour for Knoxville City Council, the Neighborhood Advisory Council and the board of directors of the Partnership for Neighborhood Improvement.

The bus leaves from the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame parking lot at 1:00 PM and will return to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame lot at 4 p.m.

The special tour is to celebrate National Community Development Week the City of Knoxville will recognize various projects funded by the Community Development Department with federal and city dollars.

During the tour Community Development staff members will point out and discuss completed and in-process projects in Lonsdale, Mechanicsville, Downtown North, Burlington, Magnolia Avenue, Five Points and Vestal neighborhoods and downtown Knoxville in addition to discussing future revitalization projects.

Examples of projects that will be highlighted include housing rehabs and new construction, commercial facade improvements, chronic problem properties, business creation or expansion, permanent supportive housing, neighborhood public improvements, and multi-unit senior housing.
