Dogwood Arts in Running for National Pepsi Refresh Everything Grant

Posted: 09/09/2010
Dogwood Arts is officially in the running to receive a $250,000 Pepsi Refresh Everything grant for a permanent Art in Public Places large-scale sculpture exhibition in Knoxville!

Now that our application to fund 15 permanent, large-scale, outdoor sculptures to be installed in Knoxville has been accepted, we need your help by voting. Public daily voting starts today and runs through Thursday, September 30, 2010.

Remember, every time you vote, you help decide which 32 ideas will receive a Refresh Everything grant this month.

Art in Public Places is currently a seven-month long exhibit of large-scale, outdoor sculptures located throughout Krutch Park, Volunteer Landing, World's Fair Park, Knoxville Convention Center, the District in Bearden, and McGhee Tyson Airport. The current exhibit closes on October 31, 2010. With this grant, we would be able to install 15 permanent outdoor sculptures which would help: enliven and beautify the city landscape; contribute to civic pride; and distinguish Knoxville as an art destination city.

Upon being selected to receive the grant, Dogwood Arts will send out a call-to-artists for the 15 sculptures to be placed around Knoxville.

In 2010, Pepsi is giving $1.3 million per month to fund good ideas, big and small, that make the world a better place. The six categories for submission are health, the planet, neighborhoods, food & shelter, education, and arts & culture.

For more information on how you can help spread the word on your website or through emails, please contact Erin Slocum at [email protected] or 865-342-6047.
