KUB Utility Work Causes Lane Closures May 16-20

Due to utility work, KUB will have lane closures on White Ave., S. Northshore Dr., Neyland Dr., Summer Place, Locust St., and Walnut St.

(Fort Sanders Area) White Avenue Road Closure [May 16] – KUB crews will close a section of White Avenue between Nineteenth Street and Eighteenth Street from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., on Monday, May 16, as work is performed on the natural gas distribution system in the area. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control, and alternate routes include Cumberland Avenue, Nineteenth Street, S. Seventeenth Street, and Clinch Avenue. 
  
(Fort Sanders Area) White Avenue Road Closure [May 17-18] – KUB crews will close a section of White Avenue between Eighteenth Street and S. Seventeenth Street from 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, until 6 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, as work is performed on the water distribution system in the area. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control, and alternate routes include Seventeenth Street, Eighteenth Street, Nineteenth Street, Cumberland Avenue, and Clinch Avenue. 

(West Knoxville) S. Northshore Drive Lane Closure [May 16-17] – KUB crews close a short section of the curbside, southbound lane of S. Northshore Drive between Kingston Pike and Wilda Place, from 11 p.m. Monday, May 16, through 7 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, as new service work is performed on the water distribution system in the area. One southbound lane, the center turn lane, and both northbound lanes will remain open during this time. 

(Downtown Knoxville) Neyland Drive Shifting Lane Closures [May 16-17] – KUB crews will implement shifting lane closures on Neyland Drive between the Henley Street Bridge and Joan Cronan Way from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monday, May 16, and Tuesday, May 17, as work is performed on wastewater manholes ahead of a planned paving project. Crews will be working in both the eastbound and westbound lanes, and the lanes closed will shift as work progresses. A minimum of one lane of traffic each direction will be maintained at all times during this work. Motorists are advised to use caution in this area. 

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project –Summer Place & Locust Street Lane Closures [May 16-20] – KUB and its contractor will implement the following traffic control measures from 6 a.m., Monday, May 16, through 6 p.m., Friday, May 20, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project: 
•  Summer Place – Lane closure between Locust Street and Walnut Street. Eastbound lane will be closed, and eastbound traffic should use Union Avenue. 
•  Locust Street – Lane closure between Summer Place and Union Avenue. The northbound lane will be closed, and the southbound lane will remain open and be used to alternate traffic.   
Pedestrians and motorists are advised to us caution in this area.  

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Walnut Street Lane Closures [May 16-20] – KUB and its contractor will implement a lane closure on Walnut Street between Wall Avenue and W. Summit Hill Drive from 6 a.m., Monday, May 16, through 6 p.m., Friday, May 20, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project. The northbound lane will be closed, while the southbound lane remains open. Northbound traffic should use Locust Street or S. Gay Street. Traffic access to parking areas will be maintained. 

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Walnut Street Road Closure [Extended May 16-20] – KUB and its contractor will implement a road closure on Walnut Street between W. Summit Hill Drive and W. Vine Avenue from 6 a.m., Monday, May 16, through 6 p.m., Friday, May 20, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project. Detour traffic should follow W. Summit Hill, S. Gay Street, to W. Vine Avenue. 

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
