Homicide Unit Investigating Deadly Shooting in Western Heights Area

The Knoxville Police Department Homicide Unit is investigating a deadly shooting that happened on Wednesday night in the Western Heights area.

At just after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, KPD officers responded to the UT Medical Center in regards to a shooting victim. The victim, who has since been identified as 47-year-old Dorian Steeley of Knoxville, Tennessee, was taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle. Steeley had been shot at least one time and was pronounced dead at UTMC.

A crime scene was located at a home in the 1300 block of Stair Avenue.

No suspect information is available at this time and the investigation remains in the early stages.
