Now that the District Attorney’s Office has determined that they will not seek criminal prosecution, the ongoing internal administrative investigation will move forward. The internal investigation will work to determine if any departmental policies or procedures were violated during the incident.

The Knoxville Police Department conducts thorough and detailed administrative reviews to ensure that the actions of its officers and employees meet the department’s high standards.

The involved employees, identified as Sergeant Brandon Wardlaw, Officer Adam Barnett, Officer Timothy Distasio and Transportation Officer Danny Dugan, remain on paid administrative leave at this time.

The KPD extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family of Lisa Edwards.
