KPD Investigating Deadly Shooting on McConnell Street 
Victim from Thanksgiving Shooting on McConnell Street Identified (November 28, 2022, 9:45 a.m.)

The victim from the deadly shooting on Thursday, November 24 on McConnell Street has been identified as Martel Thomas, age 27. The victim recently moved to Knoxville from Detroit, Michigan. 

Prior to calling 9-1-1, witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and then finding the victim dead inside of the car. A possible suspect vehicle, described as a black four-door sedan, was seen leaving the area after the shooting. The shooting appeared to be targeted. 

No suspects have been arrested or charged and the investigation, which is being led by the Knoxville Police Department Violent Crimes Unit, is ongoing at this time.

At around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2022, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting on McConnell Street near Kenner Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and found a man who had been shot inside of a car. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. 
Violent Crimes Unit investigators responded to the scene to begin the investigation, which remains in the preliminary stages.
