KPD Investigating Deadly Shooting on Washington Avenue 
UPDATE: Victim Identified from Shooting on Washington Avenue (September 6, 2022, 12:35 p.m.)

The victim from the shooting that occurred on Friday, September 2 on Washington Avenue was identified as a 17-year-old male. The victim’s name is being withheld due to his juvenile status.  

The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred on Washington Avenue near Winona Street, where shots were fired from an unknown suspect vehicle. There were three other occupants in the victim’s vehicle, including 22-year-old Isaiah Harris, who was taken into custody for violation of probation. None of the other occupants were injured in the shooting.   

No suspects have been identified or arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.

At around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of Washington Avenue near Mitchell Street. Officers arrived on scene and found a gunshot victim inside of an SUV. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Multiple witnesses were located at the scene and are being questioned by Violent Crimes Unit investigators. The suspects fled the scene in a car of undetermined make and model.
